Yishebah Baht Gavriel, originally Christina Stephanie Gabriel, celebrates her long-awaited return to Trinidad from April 3rd to April 24th, 2024. A survivor of the UK Windrush Scandal, this resilient children’s author and retired psychiatric nurse overcame decades of injustice to publish her debut, “Clever Chrissie and the Mango Stories.” Inspired by her grandson and her own Trinidadian childhood, her book embodies perseverance through adversity, including redundancy, statelessness, and the Covid-19 lockdown. Supported by her sisterhood group, legal team, and literary communities like the Publisher’s Women’s Empowerment Network and Tobago Writers’ Guild, Gavriel’s work has reached schools, libraries, and international dignitaries. Her tour in Trinidad aims to inspire with presentations and donations, promoting her unique storytelling and upcoming memoir.
